Background: Numerous case-control/population-based studies suggest that regular consumption of garlic
(particularly unprocessed garlic) may reduce the risk of developing several types of cancer, including gastric and colorectal
malignancies. However, prospective controlled trials are lacking.

and Folkloric Precedent:
The medicinal
use of garlic dates back to Egyptian physicians, traditional Chinese healers, and American physicians in the 1800s. Garlic
was recognized by Louis Pasteur and Albert Schweitzer, and was utilized during both world wars as an anti-microbial agent.
